In few restaurants in America can one sense our country's heritage as palpably as at Longfellow's Wayside Inn, arguably America's oldest operating inn. Start with a rum-based coow woow, America's first mixed drink, move on to roast goose with apple apricot stuffing, and finish with Indian pudding. For fun (and flavor), order the Jerusha peach mold, named for the former "belle of Sudbury," whose spirit some say still roams the ancient inn and grounds. Do some exploring after dinner, and you'll find that little has changed over the centuries.
